Planned Giving/Bequests
The most meaningful way to leave a legacy is to remember the Williston Community Food Shelf in your will or revocable trust. These gifts make it possible for us to plan ahead in the fight against hunger. The following language is an example that one might use for a bequest: “I hereby give to the Williston Community Food Shelf, P.O. Box 1605, Williston, VT , [cash amount, percentage of net estate or description of property] to be used for its general purposes.” If you are considering other contributions, such as retirement assets, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, life insurance proceeds, appreciated securities or other types of property (jewelry, art or real estate), please consult your legal/financial advisor.

Donate Food
If you are interested in making a donation of food, our guidelines suggest that your donations be of non-perishable foods in intact, unopened and undamaged containers that are not expired.  The items that we have the greatest need for are: breakfast cereal, pasta, canned pasta sauce, low- sodium canned vegetables and fruits, low-sodium cans of soup, canned tomatoes, canned protein, tuna, peanut butter, jelly, canned beans, coffee and tea, snacks, juice, macaroni and cheese, and pasta side dishes.   We are also happy to receive toilet tissue, personal hygiene products, condiments, and pet food. Unfortunately (with the only exception being pet food), we cannot use large, bulk packaged products that you might purchase a warehouse stores. We do accept fresh fruits and vegetables, but please let us know ahead of time of your donation, since our refrigerator space is limited. We are not permitted to accept home-made food items.
